04The drive to the Lake Mary corridor

Mitsubishi Power's Lake Mary corridor sits north of Orlando up Interstate 4, in Seminole County, and how long the drive runs depends mostly on how much of I-4 a home has to cover before it gets there. The Katherine House, in the Lockhart section of northwest Orlando, already sits close to that stretch of the interstate, so it posts the shortest drive of the thirteen homes at about 20 minutes. The 25th Street House in Holden Heights runs about 27 minutes and the Amelia House in Parramore about 28, both starting farther south near downtown before they pick up I-4 heading north.

The rest of the portfolio adds a few more minutes at a time. Game Day Getaway-Downtown Orlando, Downtown & Stadium Cozy Retreat and City and Stadium Sanctuary Vibes each run about 29 minutes. Wekiwa Home runs about 30, The Clue House, the Meet and Play House and Entertainment Home about 31, Cozy Home about 32, and Piedmont, the longest of the thirteen, about 33. For a rotation that could land in more than one of these homes, the gap between most of them is only a few minutes once you look past the three closest.

These are typical road-routing times without traffic, the same measure used everywhere on this site. I-4 north into Seminole County carries heavy commuter traffic in both directions at the start and end of a normal workday, so a fixed shift at the corridor will run longer than the numbers here suggest during the morning and evening peaks.

05Where the homes sit around the corridor

The map below sets the Lake Mary corridor at the center and places each home along its true compass bearing, with the distance from the middle standing in for drive time by road rather than straight-line miles. WinterPark Home, in Lockhart, reads closest to the center, which lines up with its shorter number above. Amelia’s Arena Retreat, in the Downtown Orlando cluster, and Fruit Tree Home, just south of downtown, both read farther out on the map, matching the extra minutes each one carries.

The rest of the homes spread across Hiawassee, Washington Shores, Malibu Groves and Pine Hills in west and northwest Orlando, and they read farther out again. None of that changes which house actually fits a given rotation best. A commissioning crew that needs six bedrooms under one roof may still choose the longer drive over a smaller house closer in, so treat the map as a companion to the exact minutes above, not a replacement for them.

06Engineers, assignees and project teams

Four kinds of traveler tend to book a Libema home around a Mitsubishi Power rotation, and each one leans on the stay a little differently. It carries 59 Airbnb reviews at a 4.79 rating, and its size suits a single engineer or a couple well, with enough room for a family of four relocating together.

Fruit Tree Home, about 27 minutes from the corridor, sits in Holden Heights south of downtown. It is a three-bedroom, two-bathroom bungalow with full-size laundry built into the house, keyless entry, a screened front porch and fruit trees in the yard, and it carries 142 Airbnb reviews at a 4.83 rating. Amelia’s Arena Retreat, about 28 minutes away in Parramore, is a four-bedroom, two-bathroom house that sleeps up to 8; one of its bedrooms has its own attached bathroom, useful for two colleagues on the same rotation who keep different hours.

None of the three is a new build. WinterPark Home is an older concrete-block home with some wear on the exterior trim and a patchy lawn, and its own page says so plainly. All three sit on residential streets with private parking already in place, so an assignee arriving with a rented car is never hunting for a spot on the street after a long flight.

08Groceries, food and parks by the closest homes

WinterPark Home sits in the stretch of Lockhart covered by our Pine Hills and Northwest Orlando area guide, and a family settling in for a rotation has a short walk to a community park with a playground and courts. A few of the everyday stops nearby:

• Presidente Supermarket on North Pine Hills Road, a Latin grocer with a cafeteria and juice counter inside.
• The Walmart Supercenter on West Princeton Street for a bigger weekly shop.
• Island Jam Caribbean Cuisine and Golden Krust, a Haitian kitchen and a Jamaican patty shop a short drive apart on the Pine Hills side of West Colonial.

09Housing a commissioning or project team

Not every Mitsubishi Power booking is one engineer or one couple. A commissioning team brought in together, or a project crew working the same equipment schedule, sometimes needs more bedrooms than the three homes closest to the corridor can offer under one roof. The Head Avenue House in Pine Hills has six bedrooms and sleeps up to 15, about 31 minutes from the corridor. The house was originally set up as a themed game house for weekend group stays, but for a work rotation it is a big, quiet six-bedroom house with a desk already in place for anyone catching up on email after the site closes, plus full-size laundry for a crew going through work clothes every day. The kitchen was renovated with stainless steel appliances and stone counters, roomy enough for a crew rotating through breakfast before an early site call.

A crew like this books on the same written monthly agreement as any of the three closest homes, one flat rate for the whole address, so whoever is tracking the project's housing budget sees a single line for the whole crew instead of a stack of separate hotel folios. If the commissioning schedule slips and the crew needs another month on site, the extension works the same way: give notice, and we hold the house at the same rate where we can.

10Billing for Mitsubishi Power employees and coordinators

A booking tied to a Mitsubishi Power assignment works the way any established company's booking does with us. Among the three homes nearest the corridor, Fruit Tree Home is the one with a full-size washer and dryer built into the house, which a guest doing several loads of work clothes a week tends to notice fast. WinterPark Home's screened porch, with patio seating and a grill, gives a family somewhere to sit outside without leaving the property, and Amelia’s Arena Retreat's bedroom with its own attached bathroom is the detail two colleagues on one booking usually ask about first. None of the three has a desk built into a bedroom; that belongs to The Clue House described above, about 31 minutes from the corridor, for anyone who needs a home office setup more than a shorter drive. Guests moving in for a season tend to ask about the driveway first; all three homes nearest the corridor have one, so a second car or a rental car is never competing for street parking on a residential block.
