Housing near UCP of Central Florida
A nonprofit running inclusive charter schools and therapy centers, hiring educators and therapists from across the country.
01The employer
UCP of Central Florida runs a network of inclusive charter schools and therapy centers across the Orlando area, employing roughly 800 educators, therapists and staff. Schools and clinics recruit teachers and clinical specialists nationally, and every year a cohort arrives with a contract and a start date.
Charter schools and therapy centers across the Orlando area, with administrative offices in the city.
02Who needs housing here
A relocating teacher or therapist rarely wants to sign a year lease before knowing which campus they'll work on. One to three months in a furnished house near the offices gives a new hire time to choose a neighborhood, with a written agreement and receipts formatted for a stipend or reimbursement.
- Teachers and therapists relocating for a role
- Clinical and allied-health specialists on contract
- Program staff on assignment
- New-graduate educators and clinicians
03How our homes fit
The administrative offices are near central Orlando, close to our northwest and downtown-edge homes; WinterPark Home in Lockhart is among the closest of the thirteen, as the table below shows. Every home has private parking and quiet bedrooms.
04The drive to the UCP offices from each home
UCP of Central Florida runs schools and therapy centers across the metro, so a new hire's actual daily commute depends on which site they land at. The one fixed point we can measure against is the administrative offices in the city, and the numbers below are built from that address. WinterPark Home in Lockhart is the closest of all thirteen homes, 5 minutes away by Orange Blossom Trail and a short stretch of I-4. Fruit Tree Home in Holden Heights is next at 11 minutes, a straight run up I-4 from just south of downtown. Amelia’s Arena Retreat in Parramore follows at 13 minutes, crossing I-4 from the western edge of the downtown core.
The other nine homes run from 13 to 17 minutes: Game Day Getaway-Downtown Orlando, Downtown & Stadium Cozy Retreat and City and Stadium Sanctuary Vibes match Amelia’s Arena Retreat at 13; The Clue House, Meet. Play. Stay., Entertainment Home and Cozy Home sit at 16; and Piedmont and Wekiwa Home are the farthest out at 17. Every route runs on ordinary city streets and interstate, and SR-408 comes into play for several of the west-side and Pine Hills homes if you take the toll lanes over surface streets. SR-408 is tolled by transponder or by plate, so a SunPass or E-PASS is worth having for a stay of more than a few weeks.
None of this accounts for traffic. An assignment that starts with summer orientation before the school year begins will see lighter roads than one that starts in September, once buses and school traffic layer onto the ordinary commute. I-4 backs up in both directions at the standard rush hours, and Orange Blossom Trail through Lockhart carries its own local traffic around school start and end times. Whichever home you choose, it is worth budgeting a few extra minutes for a 7:30 a.m. start.
05Where the homes sit around the UCP offices
On the map, each home sits at its real compass bearing from the UCP offices, and how far out it sits corresponds to drive time, not straight-line miles. WinterPark Home sits to the northwest in Lockhart. Fruit Tree Home sits south of downtown in Holden Heights. Amelia’s Arena Retreat sits inside Parramore, right at the western edge of downtown itself. From there the pattern continues: The Clue House and the rest of the Pine Hills cluster extend the northwest line past Katherine, and the Piedmont, Dollins, Sunset Lake and Meet & Play houses sit west in Washington Shores and Malibu Groves.
- 1 WinterPark Home 5 min
- 2 Fruit Tree Home 11 min
- 3 City and Stadium Sanctuary Vibes 13 min
- 4 Game Day Getaway-Downtown Orlando 13 min
- 5 Amelia’s Arena Retreat 13 min
- 6 Downtown & Stadium Cozy Retreat 13 min
- 7 Entertainment Home 16 min
- 8 The Clue House 16 min
- 9 Cozy Home 16 min
- 10 Meet. Play. Stay. 16 min
- 11 Wekiwa Home 17 min
- 12 BlueEarth 17 min
- 13 Piedmont 17 min
The offices sit close enough to the city center that both the northwest cluster around WinterPark Home and the close-in cluster around the 25th Street and Amelia houses reach them without much trouble. The Pine Hills homes and Wekiwa Home out toward Hiawassee add more time mainly because they start out farther on the same roads, not because those roads are difficult.
Two homes in different directions can land on the same drive time, so use the map alongside the neighborhood pages for a feel of the actual street. Lockhart is quiet and settled along Orange Blossom Trail, a straightforward hop from I-4. Holden Heights and Parramore sit at the close-in edge of downtown, each a few minutes from the UCP offices by a different route in. College Park, just north of the Amelia and 25th Street houses, is not one of the three closest homes but is an easy drive from either, and rounds out the close-in cluster with its own shops and cafes.
06A month near UCP for these roles
Every kind of new hire UCP brings in, from a first-year teacher to a therapist on a multi-year contract, arrives the same way: with a signed offer, a start date and very little runway to find somewhere to live before day one. A furnished house turns that first month into time to learn the job, with the couch, the Wi-Fi and the kitchen already sorted.
Because UCP's schools and therapy centers are spread across the metro, you may not know exactly which building you will report to until close to the start date. A home near the administrative offices keeps you central while that gets confirmed. If the assignment turns out to be a longer drive than expected, the agreement extends by the month, so nobody is locked into a year lease on a guess.
A new graduate stepping into a first teaching or clinical job often has less moving experience than the others, and less budget for a deposit on an apartment while also covering a hotel during the search. One furnished house, booked by the month, covers that gap with a single rate, a single deposit and a kitchen from night one.
A few things are worth lining up before the first day:
- Confirm the start date and whether the school or district issues a relocation stipend before you book.
- Reserve a one-to-three-month home near the offices ahead of any longer-term apartment search.
- Set up mail forwarding and utilities in your own name if the stay is likely to run past a month.
- Give us notice as soon as a start date or a contract slips, so we can try to hold the same home for the extra time.
This kind of contract-length stay overlaps with a few other reasons people book with us for a similar stretch of time.

The Katherine House at 518 Katherine Ave in Lockhart is the closest, 5 minutes from the offices. It is a three-bedroom, one-bathroom block home that sleeps 8, with a renovated kitchen, wood-look vinyl plank flooring, a tiled walk-in shower, a keypad lock on the front door and a screened porch with room for a grill and patio seating. Inside, the palette is gray and white with orange accents, and the open living area has a sectional and a wall-mounted TV. It sits on an older, close-set block and the lawn is patchy in spots, worth knowing upfront. A community park with a playground and courts is a short walk away, useful if a relocation comes with kids in tow.

The 25th Street House at 1010 25th St in Holden Heights is 11 minutes away. This three-bedroom, two-bathroom bungalow sleeps 10 and comes with full-size laundry on site, keyless entry, a screened front porch and a glass-top dining table. It holds a 4.83 rating across 142 Airbnb reviews, more than any other home in the portfolio. It is an older bungalow, not a large one, and the laundry sits in an unfinished utility area off the porch; the bedrooms themselves arrive with made-up beds and fresh linens.
The Amelia House at 3013 W Amelia St in Parramore is 13 minutes from the offices. This four-bedroom, two-bathroom house sleeps 8 and has a freshly renovated kitchen, granite-look counters, two updated bathrooms with marble-look tile, and one bedroom with its own attached bathroom, useful when two adults on the same lease keep different schedules. The exterior stucco shows some patching, and the backyard is grassy but a little overgrown, both visible in the home's own listing photos.
08Billing for a school, a therapy center or a relocation package
Most of the relocating staff we house pay for the stay themselves and get reimbursed, so the paperwork is built around that: a written agreement naming the home, the dates, the rate and the deposit, plus an itemized monthly receipt that fits a relocation or moving stipend. If a school or therapy center's own office wants to be the party paying, we write the agreement to the employer's name and bill it the way we bill any established company or agency: net-30 on a signed agreement or purchase order, with a W-9 and a certificate of insurance available on request.
The first month is paid up front either way, and net-30 applies to the invoices that follow. Extensions run month by month at the same terms. If a contract stretches from a semester into a full school year, or a therapy rotation adds a few more weeks, tell us before the current month ends and we will try to hold the same home for the following month.
If pets are coming along with the move, several of our homes accept them. Tell us when you inquire and we will confirm the policy and any pet deposit in writing before you commit to a home. Every agreement, whether it names a person or an employer, carries the same deposit terms and the same itemized monthly receipt; the only thing that changes is whose name goes on the invoice.
09Daily life near WinterPark Home
Lockhart is a settled, residential stretch of northwest Orlando along Orange Blossom Trail, and the everyday shopping is a short drive into neighboring Pine Hills. Presidente Supermarket, a Latin grocer on North Pine Hills Road, and the Walmart Supercenter on West Princeton Street cover a full grocery run, and Caribbean Supercenter and Enson Market, both on West Colonial Drive, add Caribbean and Asian groceries if you want variety. For a meal out, Island Jam Caribbean Cuisine on North Pine Hills Road serves griot and fried plantains, and Golden Krust at West Colonial and North Kirkman is the reliable stop for a Jamaican beef patty. Our Pine Hills and northwest area guide covers the rest of the neighborhood in more depth.
Barnett Park on West Colonial Drive is the big green space nearby, with a free splash pad, playgrounds, walking trails and courts, a genuine option for a Saturday with kids during a relocation. The Silver Star Recreation Center and a 24-hour Planet Fitness on Silver Star Road cover a gym membership, and pharmacies are easy to find too, with a Walmart pharmacy on West Princeton Street and CVS and Walgreens along Silver Star Road and Pine Hills Road.
In the other direction, Winter Park's Park Avenue is about 8 minutes from WinterPark Home.

AdventHealth Altamonte is about 12 minutes from WinterPark Home and AdventHealth Orlando is about 10, worth knowing if a spouse or partner in the same household also works in healthcare while you start at UCP.
10Daily life near the 25th Street and Amelia houses
Holden Heights and Parramore sit at the walkable edge of downtown Orlando, which changes the everyday errands. The Publix at The Paramount on Lake Eola is the compact downtown grocery store, and a second Publix on South Orange Avenue sits closer to Holden Heights. For eating out, College Park's Edgewater Drive is a short drive north, with Adriatico Trattoria for Italian and Christo's Cafe for breakfast and lunch, and the Mills 50 district east of downtown holds the pho and banh mi kitchens of the largest Vietnamese-American community in Florida. Our downtown and close-in area guide goes further into both.
Lake Eola Park is the closest green space to both homes: a roughly one-mile sidewalk loop, swan boats to rent, and a Sunday farmers market from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the southeast corner. North of downtown, Loch Haven Park gathers the Orlando Museum of Art, the Orlando Science Center and Orlando Shakes in one place, and Harry P. Leu Gardens adds a fifty-acre botanical garden on the lake, both easy for a weekend during a longer stay.
The Downtown Orlando YMCA on North Mills Avenue has run a full gym with two pools since the 1960s, and two SunRail stations plus the free LYMMO bus mean the car can sit parked here more than almost anywhere else in the portfolio. Pharmacies are close by too: a Publix pharmacy sits right at Lake Eola, with CVS and Walgreens a few minutes away downtown, so a prescription transfer during the first week is a short errand rather than a project.
11What's in the house
All three of the closest homes come furnished and ready from the first night: beds and linens, a stocked kitchen, a washer and dryer, Wi-Fi and private parking. Wi-Fi is on from the day you arrive, so the first evening of lesson planning or paperwork does not wait on an installation appointment. Exact inclusions and any pet policy are confirmed in writing when you inquire.
Exact inclusions vary a little by home and are confirmed in writing when you book.
WinterPark Home, Fruit Tree Home and Amelia’s Arena Retreat are three of the six homes in the portfolio with a published street address; the other six publish a neighborhood and zip code and share the exact address at booking. None of the thirteen has a pool. Bed and bath counts above are the counts from each home's own listing, and a sofa in a living room is never counted as a bed. Parking is a private driveway at all three: no shared lot, no permit to arrange, and no circling the block after a late shift or a school event that runs long.

14Common questions
Do you host relocating teachers and therapists?
Yes. A one-to-three-month furnished stay for a relocating educator or clinician is a common request, with simple extensions.
Do you provide stipend paperwork?
Yes. A written agreement and itemized receipts for a stipend or reimbursement.
Are you affiliated with UCP of Central Florida?
No. Libema Properties is independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by UCP of Central Florida.
Which of your homes is closest to the UCP offices?
WinterPark Home in Lockhart, about 5 minutes away by Orange Blossom Trail and a short stretch of I-4. It's a three-bedroom home with a screened porch, a private driveway, and a community park with a playground a short walk from the door, a comfortable pick for a relocating teacher or therapist settling in alone or with family.
Can my whole family relocate for a new UCP contract, not just me?
Yes. Families book the same one-to-three-month agreements as a solo hire, and Amelia’s Arena Retreat, one of the three homes closest to the offices, has four bedrooms if grandparents or older kids are coming too. The idea is the same either way: settle into a real house before deciding on a neighborhood for the long term.
Will UCP or my new school pay for the stay directly?
That depends on your employer's own process. If a school or therapy center's office wants to pay directly rather than reimburse you, we bill it the way we bill any established employer: a signed agreement or purchase order, itemized monthly invoices, and a W-9 and certificate of insurance on request. Most relocating staff pay for the stay themselves and get reimbursed through their own stipend process.
What happens if my start date moves or my contract runs long?
Tell us as soon as you know. Extensions run month by month at the same terms, so a start date that slips two weeks, or a rotation that adds a month, does not mean renegotiating the whole stay, just confirming new dates in writing. The same written agreement covers the extension, so there is no new lease to sign.
Is there a desk or workspace to prepare lesson plans or notes in the evening?
None of the three homes closest to the UCP offices has a dedicated desk, though each has a dining table and a living room that work fine for evening prep. If a desk matters more than the shorter drive, The Clue House in Pine Hills, about 16 minutes from the offices, has one built into a bedroom.
My partner works at one of the AdventHealth campuses. Does that change which home makes sense?
It might point you toward WinterPark Home: about 12 minutes from AdventHealth Altamonte, about 10 minutes from AdventHealth Orlando, and about 13 minutes from downtown Orlando if either of you has meetings there too. One car can reasonably cover any two of those in a single morning.
