The Pine Hills & Northwest Orlando Area Guide

What daily life looks like around our Pine Hills homes: the international grocers, the Caribbean kitchens, Barnett Park, the gyms, and how you get downtown.

The Clue House, a Libema home in Pine Hills, northwest Orlando

Pine Hills is a big, spread-out residential community in northwest Orlando, off Silver Star Road and Pine Hills Road, with the SR-408 East-West Expressway along its southern edge. Five of our homes sit here or just north in Rosemont and Lockhart, which makes this the part of the portfolio where a group can take more than one house on the same street and still have room to park. It is quiet, unhurried, and more affordable than the city core - and, as a place to actually run your daily life for a month, it has one thing most Orlando neighborhoods do not: some of the most international grocery shopping in the metro, minutes from the front door.

Groceries and everyday shopping

The corner of Pine Hills Road and West Colonial Drive is a genuinely good place to cook from. Presidente Supermarket, a Latin grocer at 2722 North Pine Hills Road, sits right at Silver Star Road with a cafeteria and juice counter inside. A few blocks south on West Colonial you have Caribbean Supercenter (5111 West Colonial Drive), which has anchored the area's Caribbean shopping for about forty years, and Enson Market (5132 West Colonial Drive), a large Asian supermarket in the Chinatown plaza. A local news feature in 2024 called Pine Hills one of Orlando's best corners for Caribbean, Asian and Latin groceries, and that holds up.

For a full-line American supermarket, the Walmart Supercenter at 3101 West Princeton Street is the closest big box, and the nearest Publix is a short drive south to Metro West Village (2435 South Hiawassee Road) or west on Colonial toward Ocoee. Between the four, a month's cooking is covered without going far.

Where to eat

The everyday food here is Caribbean and Latin, and it is good. Island Jam Caribbean Cuisine (2615 North Pine Hills Road) is a well-reviewed Haitian kitchen known for griot and fried plantains. Golden Krust, at West Colonial and North Kirkman (5503 West Colonial Drive), is the reliable stop for Jamaican beef patties, jerk chicken and oxtail. Beyond those two, Pine Hills Road and West Colonial are lined with small independent Caribbean, Latin and West African spots worth trying a few of over a longer stay. For a wider sit-down selection - Brazilian, Lebanese, sushi, Colombian - the Hiawassee Road restaurant row in MetroWest is about ten minutes south; our west-side guide lists those.

Coffee

Pine Hills is light on sit-down cafes; the Caribbean bakeries along West Colonial do strong coffee alongside their patties, which is the local habit. For a proper laptop-and-latte cafe, the closest good ones are Mecatos Bakery & Cafe on South Hiawassee Road to the south (Colombian, and excellent) and the row of independents on Edgewater Drive in College Park to the east - both a short drive, both covered in our other guides.

Parks and the outdoors

Barnett Park (4801 West Colonial Drive) is the big one: 159 acres run by Orange County, with a free splash pad that runs in timed sessions through the warm months, playgrounds, walking trails, disc golf, basketball and volleyball courts, and a recreation center. It is free to use and genuinely family-grade. The Silver Star Recreation Center and community park add another public option with programs and a workout room. On the southern edge, the Central Florida Fairgrounds and the Orlando Amphitheater (4603 West Colonial Drive) host the Central Florida Fair each spring plus concerts through the year. For spring-fed swimming and paddling, Wekiwa Springs is about twenty minutes north - see the west-side guide.

Gyms and fitness

There is a 24-hour Planet Fitness out on Silver Star Road toward Ocoee, and the usual chains (LA Fitness, EOS) sit along West Colonial. If you would rather keep it simple and cheap for a month, the county's Barnett Park recreation center and the Silver Star Recreation Center both have fitness rooms and drop-in programs. For boxing or martial arts, Rene's Dynamic Sports Center is on Silver Star Road.

Pharmacies and everyday errands

Pharmacies are easy here - the Walmart on Princeton Street plus CVS and Walgreens along Silver Star Road and Pine Hills Road. The closest emergency rooms are AdventHealth Orlando to the east and Orlando Health Health Central in Ocoee to the west; both are a straightforward drive, and each of our home pages lists the exact time.

Getting around

The SR-408 East-West Expressway is the spine of this area: downtown is a quick run east, and Ocoee, Apopka and the SR-429 beltway are just west. Silver Star Road, Pine Hills Road, Kirkman Road and Hiawassee Road handle the local trips. This is a drive-everywhere part of town - LYNX buses run the main roads, but there is no SunRail or rail transit out here, so plan on a car. The expressways are tolled by transponder or plate, so a SunPass or E-PASS is worth having for a longer stay. Here is how the drive works out from each of our homes in this cluster:

Homes across Pine Hills, Rosemont and Lockhart

Five of our thirteen furnished houses sit in this stretch of northwest Orlando, spread across three neighborhoods: Pine Hills, Rosemont and Lockhart. The route into the city differs by neighborhood. The four Pine Hills homes reach downtown on the SR-408 East-West Expressway along Pine Hills' southern edge. WinterPark Home, which sits in the Rosemont and Lockhart area to the north, routes through I-4 and US-441, the Orange Blossom Trail, instead. Two of the five are big enough to run as a base for a work crew or an extended family. The Head Avenue House sleeps up to fifteen across six bedrooms, and the Entertainment House sleeps up to eleven across three bedrooms plus a small bonus room. The Katherine House is a smaller three-bedroom pick with a screened porch, the closest of our homes to AdventHealth Altamonte Springs. The other two, the Londonderry House and the Cozy House, sit close enough to the Central Florida Fairgrounds to make a concert night an easy trip home.

Two of the five publish a street address on the site already, The Clue House at 677 Head Ave and WinterPark Home at 518 Katherine Ave. The other three list a Pine Hills neighborhood and the 32808 zip code publicly and hand you the exact address once your booking is confirmed, the same policy that applies to six of our thirteen homes overall. None of the five have a pool; like every home we rent, they are residential houses without one.

The Clue House for a crew or a long work stay

The Clue House is the biggest house in this corner of the portfolio: six bedrooms, three bathrooms, and room for up to fifteen people. It started life as a themed mystery-game house, with each bedroom styled after a character from a classic whodunit board game, and groups still book it for that reason. On a work stay it reads differently. One bedroom has a desk for working from home, the laundry is a full-size washer and dryer, and the house has ceiling fans in every room and a fenced yard with a private driveway. The kitchen was renovated with gray shaker cabinets, stone counters and stainless appliances, and the bathroom has a double-sink vanity with a lighted mirror and a tiled walk-in shower. It runs about 11 minutes from downtown Orlando, 12 from AdventHealth Orlando and Orlando Health / ORMC, and 3 minutes from the Central Florida Fairgrounds.

That combination, a desk plus full-size laundry, is why The Clue House shows up on our remote workers and work crew pages as often as it does for nurses and families. Splitting six bedrooms keeps the math simple: one rate for the whole house, one agreement, one kitchen everyone shares. Angella, who stayed in August 2026, wrote: 'My stay was very good. Close to everywhere without the traffic. My family and I was safe and felt at home.' The house holds a 4.86 rating from 61 reviews on Airbnb.

Entertainment Home, Downtown & Stadium Cozy Retreat and Cozy Home

These three sit close together in Pine Hills, each listing a neighborhood and the 32808 zip publicly with the exact address shared once you book. Entertainment Home has the most to do indoors: a foosball table and table tennis, a fireplace TV wall, an attached one-car garage, and room for up to eleven across three bedrooms plus a small bonus room. Downtown & Stadium Cozy Retreat is built for beds over play space, with a king room, a queen room and a bunk room holding two sets of bunk beds, sleeping up to eight behind one full bathroom and a half bath. Cozy Home is the simplest of the three, a plain three-bedroom bungalow with a breakfast bar and one shared bathroom, also sleeping eight.

Entertainment Home and Cozy Home are both about 11 minutes from downtown and 4 from the Central Florida Fairgrounds. Downtown & Stadium Cozy Retreat sits a little further out, at 14 minutes to downtown and 7 to the Fairgrounds. None of the three has a fenced yard on record, so a family traveling with a dog that needs to run loose should look at The Clue House or WinterPark Home instead.

All three run wood-look plank floors and ceiling fans throughout, and each has its own place to eat. Entertainment Home has a kitchen island with seating plus a dining table for six. Downtown & Stadium Cozy Retreat has a breakfast counter and a glass-top dining table for six, plus a marble-look walk-in shower and blackout curtains in every bedroom. Cozy Home has a breakfast bar with stools and a dining table for four, blackout curtains of its own, and one bathroom with a tub-and-shower combination and a lighted round mirror. Angela, who stayed at Entertainment Home in July 2025, wrote: 'Our stay was good, uneventful. Place was as described.' Jordan, who stayed at Cozy Home in May 2026, wrote: 'Brandon was a great host, he knows the local area very well and has tons of recommendations!'

WinterPark Home and the run to Winter Park and Altamonte

WinterPark Home sits in Lockhart, just north of the city along US-441, and it is the only one of these five homes with a screened porch, complete with patio seating and a grill. Inside, the kitchen has stainless appliances and white quartz-look counters, and the walk-in shower has a glass door and an LED-lit vanity. It is a three-bedroom, one-bathroom house with a keypad lock on the front door and a community park with a playground and courts a short walk away. It is also the closest of these five homes to two hospital campuses at once: about 10 minutes to AdventHealth Orlando and 12 to AdventHealth Altamonte Springs, compared with 18 to 22 minutes to Altamonte from the four Pine Hills homes.

Downtown Winter Park's Park Avenue district, about 8 minutes from WinterPark Home

Winter Park's Park Avenue district is about 8 minutes away, closer than from any other home in this cluster. The trade-off is distance from the tourist corridor: Universal is 26 minutes from WinterPark Home and the airport is 38, both longer runs than from the Pine Hills side. For a clinician who splits time between the AdventHealth campuses, or a family settling into Lockhart for a season, that trade works in the other direction, and the screened porch is a real plus after a long shift. The house holds a 4.79 rating from 59 reviews on Airbnb.

The drive to the hospitals, Universal and the airport

A few destinations are worth calling out on their own, beyond the drive-time table above. Orlando Health / ORMC downtown is 12 minutes from The Clue House, Entertainment Home and Cozy Home, 15 from Downtown & Stadium Cozy Retreat and 16 from WinterPark Home. AdventHealth Orlando runs the other direction: 10 minutes from WinterPark Home, 12 from The Clue House and Downtown & Stadium Cozy Retreat, and 13 from Entertainment Home and Cozy Home. Orlando Health's Health Central campus in Ocoee runs 10 to 14 minutes from the four Pine Hills homes and 23 from WinterPark Home, which is why it rarely comes up for a Lockhart booking.

Each home is placed in its true compass direction from AdventHealth Orlando; distance from the centre is the drive time by road, not miles.

The map above places all five homes by their true direction from AdventHealth Orlando's Rollins Street campus. The four Pine Hills homes sit west of downtown and reach the campus by SR-408; WinterPark Home sits north in Lockhart along US-441, with I-4 the quick route south. Universal Studios runs from 14 minutes at The Clue House, Entertainment Home and Cozy Home, up to 17 at Downtown & Stadium Cozy Retreat and 26 at WinterPark Home, a 12-minute span across the cluster. The Central Florida Fairgrounds covers that same 12-minute span in the other direction, from 3 minutes at The Clue House to 15 at WinterPark Home.

Orlando International Airport runs 33 minutes from The Clue House, Entertainment Home and Cozy Home, 36 from Downtown & Stadium Cozy Retreat and 38 from WinterPark Home, all without traffic. Here is the same comparison against the full portfolio for Orlando Health / ORMC and the airport.

What's already in the house

Every one of the five homes has ceiling fans, a kitchen stocked with cookware and dishes, Wi-Fi from day one, and private parking, confirmed in writing when you book. Past that baseline, they differ in useful ways. The Clue House and Cozy Home have full-size laundry; the other three have a washer and dryer sized for a smaller load. The Clue House is the only one with a desk. WinterPark Home is the only one with a screened porch. Entertainment Home is the only one with an attached garage and a fireplace. Downtown & Stadium Cozy Retreat is the only one with a bunk room. Three of the five also put a TV in every bedroom, not only the living room: The Clue House, Downtown & Stadium Cozy Retreat and Cozy Home.

A fenced yard is only at The Clue House and WinterPark Home among these five, which matters if you are traveling with a dog that needs room to run. The exact list for any one house, down to the linens, is confirmed in writing before you pay a deposit.

Who stays here and what guests said

The bigger houses here get booked by work crews and reunions as often as by travel nurses, since six bedrooms splits a lot of ways. Entertainment Home's foosball table and table tennis make it a regular pick for a reunion or a team looking for something to do after a work day, on top of its eleven-person capacity. WinterPark Home leans toward relocating families, snowbirds settling in for a season, and families of a patient at one of the AdventHealth campuses. The three smaller Pine Hills houses fill in for a family displaced by a repair, or a crew that wants its own kitchen instead of a row of hotel rooms; our insurance and displacement page covers that stay in more detail.

Carolyn, who stayed at WinterPark Home in March 2025 for a work trip, wrote: 'A few of my colleagues and I had the pleasure of staying here for a work trip to the Orlando area. The location was perfect for us. The place was beautiful and just what we needed for our short stay. Michelle was amazing as well. She goes above and beyond in regard to communication to ensure our stay went smoothly from check-in to check-out.' Here are more from the same listing, and the full wall is on our reviews page.

Before you book in this cluster

A few things about this specific stretch of the portfolio are worth knowing before you send us your dates.

  • Address timing. Book the Entertainment, Londonderry or Cozy House and you get the neighborhood and the 32808 zip right away, with the exact street address once the booking is confirmed. The Clue House and WinterPark Home publish their address on the site already.
  • Groups across more than one house. Four of these five sit in Pine Hills, so a large family or a wedding party can take two houses in the same neighborhood and skip the trip across the city.
  • Billing. A written monthly agreement, an itemized receipt and net-30 terms for an established company or agency are available on any of the five. A family or reunion books the normal way, with a rate and deposit confirmed in writing.
  • Extensions. If a stay runs long, tell us before the current month ends and we extend by the month at the same terms, house permitting.
  • Pets. Several homes in this cluster accept pets; the policy and any deposit are confirmed in writing before you commit. A fenced yard for a dog to run in is only at The Clue House and WinterPark Home.
  • Reviews. All five average at least 4.3 out of 5 on Airbnb. Four of them carry anywhere from 19 to 88 guest reviews on file; Downtown & Stadium Cozy Retreat is newer to the platform and does not have reviews posted yet.

Related guides for this side of Orlando

Two other guides cover the rest of the portfolio if this cluster is not quite the fit. Our Hiawassee & West-Side guide covers Wekiwa Home, a compact two-bedroom west of Pine Hills near Wekiwa Springs and Rock Springs, with the Hiawassee Road restaurant row and a full-line supermarket for daily life. Our Downtown & Close-In guide covers the Amelia Street House in Parramore, minutes from the Orlando Health campus, the Kia Center and Creative Village, and Fruit Tree Home just south in Holden Heights, close to Orlando Health / ORMC. Both are walkable to Lake Eola Park, two SunRail stations and the free LYMMO bus, for a stay where the car sits parked more of the time.

Both guides work from the same drive-time facts as this one. If a specific stop on your list, a hospital, a stadium, an office, sits closer to one of those two clusters, that is the guide to read next.
