An airline with about 2,700 Orlando employees and a training campus that brings new crews to the city every month.

01The employer

JetBlue employs about 2,700 people in Orlando and runs JetBlue University, its training campus, here. That means a steady rotation of new-hire crews and instructors who arrive for weeks at a time, plus the relocations that come with a crew base.

Operations at Orlando International Airport and JetBlue University, the airline's training campus in Orlando.

02Who needs housing here

Training stays are short and structured; base relocations are longer. In both cases people want a quiet, furnished house with parking and a kitchen, and a price that works when several colleagues share.

  • New-hire flight attendants and pilots in training
  • Crews relocating to the Orlando base
  • Instructors and training staff on assignment
  • Maintenance and ground staff transferring in

03How our homes fit

Our homes are roughly 21 to 39 minutes from JetBlue University and MCO by road. Fruit Tree Home and Game Day Getaway-Downtown Orlando are the closest. Every stay has a written monthly agreement and receipts.

04Getting to JetBlue University and the airport

JetBlue University and Orlando International Airport sit close enough together that the same drive works for either one. By road and without traffic, the training campus runs 21 to 35 minutes from our thirteen homes, and the airport terminal runs a few minutes farther, 26 to 39 minutes. Fruit Tree Home posts the shortest drive to both, about 21 minutes to the university and 26 to the airport. Game Day Getaway-Downtown Orlando and City and Stadium Sanctuary Vibes are next, both about 25 minutes to the university and 29 to the airport.

The rest of the portfolio runs a little longer. Amelia’s Arena Retreat, on the downtown edge, is about 26 minutes to the university and 30 to the airport. Piedmont and Meet. Play. Stay., both in West Orlando, run about 28. The Head Avenue, Entertainment and Cozy houses, in the Pine Hills area of Northwest Orlando, run about 29. Downtown & Stadium Cozy Retreat is about 32, WinterPark Home about 34, and Wekiwa Home, the farthest west of the thirteen, is about 35. Our guide to getting around Orlando for work covers the wider commute picture if part of the household works somewhere else in the metro.

Minutes by road without traffic, from the drive-time matrix.

Most of these drives run at least part of the way on I-4 or SR-408, and both roads slow at the morning and evening rush, hours that often line up with a shift change or an early check-in for a training day. SR-408 and the stretch of I-4 through the metro are toll roads, collected by transponder or by plate. Over a training block that runs several weeks, a SunPass or E-PASS transponder costs less per trip than plate tolling, and it is worth setting up in the first few days if the schedule means several trips a week to the campus.

Each home is placed in its true compass direction from JetBlue University; distance from the centre is the drive time by road, not miles.

The map places JetBlue University at the center and each home along its real compass bearing, with each home's distance from the center set by its drive time in minutes. The South of Downtown and West Orlando clusters, where the three closest homes sit, form the near ring; the Downtown Orlando cluster sits a little farther around that same ring; the Northwest Orlando cluster, spread across Pine Hills, Rosemont and Lockhart, reads as the next ring out; and Wekiwa Home, out on its own in Hiawassee, sits at the far edge of the map. A few homes in different neighborhoods land close together on the map, which is normal; the minutes above are the exact figures, and the map fills in direction and relative distance.

05A training stay at JetBlue University

A class at JetBlue University runs on a set schedule: early check-ins, simulator sessions and study blocks that repeat across multiple weeks. A new-hire flight attendant or pilot moving through initial training wants a quiet house to come back to after a long day of instruction, and a kitchen where dinner does not depend on a restaurant still being open when the schedule lets out.

Instructors and training staff who rotate through the campus for a course cycle are in a similar position. The assignment is temporary, but it runs long enough, usually several weeks at a stretch, that a furnished house with a real bed and a stocked kitchen works better than a stretch of takeout in a hotel room. The pattern looks a lot like the one covered in our student and intern housing guide: a fixed multi-week program, a cohort that turns over, and a need for furnished housing that does not require a year-long lease.

Maintenance and ground staff transferring into the Orlando base start the same way, often arriving weeks ahead of household goods or a family that follows once a permanent address is settled. Meet. Play. Stay. and The Clue House, both farther from the campus than the three closest homes, each have a desk set up in a bedroom, useful for the paperwork and online modules that come before a first day on the job.

Full-size laundry at Fruit Tree Home keeps a uniform in rotation without a laundromat trip, and Game Day Getaway-Downtown Orlando and City and Stadium Sanctuary Vibes each have their own washer and dryer as well. A private driveway, parking pad or carport at every home in this cluster means a rental car or a vehicle brought down for training has somewhere to park overnight, whatever time a shift ends.

06A base relocation to the Orlando crew base

A relocation to the Orlando crew base is a different shape of stay. There is no fixed end date tied to a course calendar, and the household is more likely to include a spouse, kids starting at a new school, or a dog or cat that came along for the move. Several of our homes accept pets, and the policy and any deposit are confirmed in writing before you commit, which matters when a family is deciding whether the family dog comes along or stays behind for the move.

A pilot or an instructor relocating with a spouse who is also arranging a job change, or a maintenance technician bringing a family before the local school year starts, both fit the same booking pattern: one house, one written agreement, and the flexibility to extend if the search for a permanent home slips past the first month or two.

The house that starts as a relocation stay often becomes the bridge while a family finds a permanent home nearby. Extensions run month by month at the same terms, and telling us early when a house search runs past the first month is what lets us hold the following month. For a family working out which part of Orlando to settle in longer term, our neighborhood starter guide and our relocation and long-stay housing page go further than a single crew-base commute.

07The homes closest to the campus

The 25th Street House in Holden Heights is the closest, about 21 minutes to the university. It is a three-bedroom, two-bathroom bungalow that sleeps up to ten, with full-size laundry on site, keyless entry, a screened front porch and a fenced backyard with mature shade trees. It carries 142 Airbnb reviews at a 4.83 rating. The bedrooms run small, which suits a solo new hire or two colleagues sharing well, and a family of four adequately.

The Dollins House, in Washington Shores, is about 25 minutes to the university. It has four bedrooms, two bathrooms and sleeps up to thirteen, with blackout curtains and wall-mounted TVs in the bedrooms, gray shaker cabinets and granite counters in the kitchen, and a shaded lot under mature oaks with a private driveway. The extra bedrooms make it the pick when three or four colleagues split one house between them, and it carries a 4.15 rating across 12 Airbnb reviews.

The Sunset Lake House, also in Washington Shores, is about 25 minutes to the university as well. It is a smaller three-bedroom, one-bathroom bungalow under a live oak, with a white kitchen, a breakfast bar, a dining table for four and a carport for parking. It sleeps up to eight and suits a smaller group or a solo hire who wants a quieter, simpler house, and it carries a 4.4 rating across 7 reviews.

All three homes book on the same written monthly agreement, whether the guest is a single new hire, two colleagues sharing, or a company covering the cost for a training class. Nightly and weekly stays run through each home's own Airbnb and Vrbo listing for anyone whose training block is shorter than a month.

08Life near these homes during a stay

Game Day Getaway-Downtown Orlando and City and Stadium Sanctuary Vibes sit in Washington Shores, covered in our west-side area guide. Groceries mean a short drive to the Walmart Supercenter on West Princeton Street or Presidente Supermarket on Pine Hills Road, and Nikki's Place on South Orange Blossom Trail has served soul food since 1999, less than a mile from Camping World Stadium. Lake Lorna Doone Park, a twelve-acre city park just north of the stadium, has a walking loop, outdoor fitness stations and a splash pad, and from City and Stadium Sanctuary Vibes, about two minutes from the stadium, it is close enough to use often.

Fruit Tree Home sits in Holden Heights, part of our downtown and close-in area guide. The Publix on South Orange Avenue is the closest full grocery store, and downtown's Church Street and the Mills 50 district, a short drive north, add the wider run of restaurants and bars. The Downtown Orlando YMCA on North Mills Avenue has two pools and a full class schedule, and Lake Eola Park's roughly one-mile sidewalk loop is a free option a few minutes away.

None of these homes is within walking distance of the airport or the training campus, so plan on a car for the full length of a stay. LYNX buses run the main roads in both neighborhoods, and the two downtown SunRail stations, a short drive from Fruit Tree Home, are an option on a day off if you would rather leave the car parked.

09JetBlue's Orlando operations

JetBlue's Orlando presence has two parts. Day-to-day operations run out of Orlando International Airport itself, and JetBlue University, the airline's training campus, runs separately, close enough by road that a training stay and an operations assignment draw on the same set of homes and the same drive-time band.

Anyone on an operations assignment works around aircraft schedules rather than a nine-to-five clock, so an early departure or a late arrival can mean an odd-hours drive to or from the airport. A quiet street and off-street parking matter more for that kind of shift than they would for a downtown office job.

New cohorts move through the training campus on a recurring basis, which means a fresh group of colleagues often needs housing again a few weeks after the last one has moved on or moved into a longer-term place. We are an independent housing company with no affiliation to JetBlue, and nothing on this page implies otherwise; the homes here just happen to sit within a short, predictable drive of both sites.

10Billing a training stay or a relocation

JetBlue crews, training coordinators and staffing offices book the same way any company does with us: one written monthly agreement naming the home, the dates, the rate and the deposit, with itemized receipts a coordinator can process. We can write the agreement to the company or to the individual crew member, whichever the situation calls for.

Established companies, agencies and insurers can arrange net-30 terms on a signed agreement or purchase order; the first booking is paid up front while that arrangement is set up. A W-9 and a certificate of insurance are available on request, and Libema carries a commercial landlord liability policy. The same terms apply whether the booking covers one crew member for a single training block or a running arrangement that houses a new cohort every few weeks.

A trainee paying their own way books the same as any guest, with the rate and deposit confirmed in writing before check-in. This works the same way across corporate and business housing generally, and a coordinator handling the booking for someone else often finds our coordinator's checklist useful before the first call.

11What's in the house

Game Day Getaway-Downtown Orlando's kitchen, shown above, is typical of the renovations across the portfolio: gray shaker cabinets, stainless appliances and granite-look counters, a full working kitchen for someone cooking most nights. All three of the closest homes have ceiling fans in the bedrooms and living areas, and Fruit Tree Home adds keyless entry, useful for a shift that ends after dark.

None of the thirteen homes has a pool; they are residential houses. Fruit Tree Home and Game Day Getaway-Downtown Orlando both publish a street address on the site; City and Stadium Sanctuary Vibes is one of six homes that publish the neighborhood and zip code instead, with the exact address shared at booking.

14Common questions

How far are your homes from JetBlue University?

About 21 to 35 minutes to JetBlue University and 26 to 39 to MCO by road, depending on the home.

Can several trainees share a house?

Yes. Our three-to-six-bedroom homes suit shared stays, with one agreement for the house.

Are you affiliated with JetBlue?

No. Libema Properties is independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by JetBlue.

Which home is closest to JetBlue University?

Fruit Tree Home in Holden Heights is closest, about 21 minutes to JetBlue University and 26 to Orlando International Airport by road. Game Day Getaway-Downtown Orlando and City and Stadium Sanctuary Vibes, both in Washington Shores, are next, about 25 minutes to the university and 29 to the airport. All of these are typical road-routing times without traffic, so a shift-change commute can run longer.

Can a JetBlue coordinator or staffing office book on behalf of a crew member?

Yes. We can write the agreement to the company, the training office, or the individual, whichever fits the situation. Monthly invoices go out in that party's name, and a W-9 and certificate of insurance are available on request. Established companies and agencies can arrange net-30 terms on a signed agreement; the first booking is paid up front while that arrangement is set up.

What's the difference between a training stay and a base relocation?

A training stay runs for the weeks of a course at JetBlue University and tends to follow a set, structured schedule. A base relocation has no fixed end date and often brings a spouse, kids or a pet along for the move. Both book the same way, on a written monthly agreement that extends month by month if the stay runs longer than planned.

Do the drive times to JetBlue University account for traffic?

No. They are typical road-routing times without traffic. Most of these homes reach the campus by way of I-4 or SR-408, and both roads slow during the morning and evening rush, so a shift that starts or ends during peak hours should budget extra time beyond the posted minutes.

Which of the three closest homes fits a group of colleagues best?

Game Day Getaway-Downtown Orlando has the most bedrooms of the three: four bedrooms and sleeps up to thirteen, which suits three or four colleagues splitting one house. Fruit Tree Home sleeps up to ten across three bedrooms, and City and Stadium Sanctuary Vibes is the smallest, three bedrooms sleeping up to eight, a better fit for one or two people traveling together.

Can a training stay run shorter than a month?

Monthly stays are booked directly with us on a written agreement, but nightly and weekly stays run through each home's Airbnb and Vrbo listings, which cover a training block shorter than a month. If a course extends past the first booking, a stay already booked by the month extends the same way, one month at a time, at the same terms.
